What is the housing list?
This is a list of all applicants who want to be housed by us. Once we process your application form, a unique reference number. Points will be awarded based on your individual circumstances, such as housing need, medical issues, overcrowding or homelessness.
How are properties offered?
An offer of housing is based on several factors, including:
Your level of priority based on your housing need
Your preferred areas
The size and type of housing you need
The availability of suitable properties
Can I apply for housing?
Anyone over the age of 16 can apply for housing with us. Current tenants, who want to transfer to another house, should also complete this form.
What happens after I apply?
We will check your application to make sure we have all relevant information. We may contact if:
Further information is required
Supporting documents are missing
We need to contact previous or current landlords
How is the housing list managed?
Input new applications
Amend any change in circumstances from applicants
Register all empty properties
Arrange to visit applicants near the top of the list
Allocate houses to the person with the highest need
How long will I have to wait?
Waiting times vary depending on your level of need, preferred areas, and the type of property required. Some applicant may wait a long time before being offered a home.
We cannot give an exact timescale for housing offers or tell you a position on the housing list due to it changing frequently.
Can I increase my chances of being housed?
You can improve your chances of being housed by:
Ensuring you keep your housing application up to date
Proving accurate information and evidence where required
Being flexible with areas and property types
Informing us immediately of any change in circumstances
What changes do I need to tell you?
To keep your application up to date, please tell us if there are any changes to your circumstances, including:
Address or contact details
Changes to your household size
Medical changes
Changes to your housing situation
If you no longer require housing
Failure to report these changes may affect your application and priority.

Applicants are required to complete all sections of this application form. If a question does not apply to your circumstances, please enter “N/A”. Incomplete applications, or those submitted without the required supporting evidence, cannot be assessed under the housing allocations policy.
Within the form, the ‘PROOF’ icon indicates where specific documents must be provided. The evidence listed below is required to verify eligibility, priority, and household circumstances with the allocations policy.
Required Supporting Evidence
Please do not supply us with any financial documents with your application. In line with data protection (GDPR) requirements, we are unable to store or process financial information.
Photographic Identification
For the main applicant and any joint applicant. Acceptable documents include a valid driving license or passport. Where photographic ID is not available, a birth certificate may be accepted.
Proof of address
For the main applicant and any joint applicant. Acceptable documents include utility bills, council tax statements, benefit letters, or bank statements showing the address only.
Pregnancy
A MATB1 maternity certificate showing the expected due date, or an official maternity letter.
Homelessness
Relevant documentation such as homelessness assessments, decision letters, or a notice to quit.
Children
Evidence relating to any children in the application such as birth certificates, child access arrangements, and confirmation of their current address.
Right to Reside
If you are not a UK national, proof of your right to reside in the UK, such as a national identity card or relevant immigration documentation.
Property Condition
Clear photographic evidence of nay property condition issues where possible. Please note that a home visit may be carried out as part of the assessment process.
